Description

Fully annotated and completely updated-the most comprehensive guide to reference books in the field of history. Reference Sources in History catalogs atlases, encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, sourcebooks, bibliographies, and chronologies and makes sense of it all. Its broad scope and systematic organization make it an accessible, reliable resource for experienced and inexperienced researchers alike. Fully annotated and updated, the new edition summarizes hundreds of reference works on every conceivable subject in history-from ancient to modern, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. This edition also reflects the dramatic impact of the digital revolution on historical research by integrating a wide range of Internet and CD-ROM sources. Reference Sources in History is a time-saving alternative to searching the reference stacks or getting lost in an online thicket of dubious historical websites.

Reviews
The editors are to be commended for mining the huge historical reference literature and compiling this compact and superbly researched guide. Nicely designed with easy-to-read type, this unique and updated work is highly recommended for both reference and acquisition librarians in public and academic libraries. * Booklist *
The thing that separates this volume from run of the mill bibliographies is the quality of the annotations that the authors provide. . . . Just browsing the pages will yield many starting points for valuable lessons and should send them to visit their school librarian with requests for the well-known and obscure titles. This book should be included in any library looking to bolster its reference section. * Library Media Connection *
As the subtitle promises, this volume remains an excellent introductory guide for both undergraduate and graduate majors in history. * Lawrence Looks at Books *
Reference Sources in History still has no equal in covering representative reference sources for all time periods and geographical areas. It remains an essential purchase for all academic and public libraries that have strong history collections. * American Reference Books Annual *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
