Description

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy in India: Very Brief Therapy for Problems of Daily Living is the first book of its kind to look specifically at using Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) for helping people with problems that are common in India.

Based on training workshops given by Professor Windy Dryden in Mumbai, this book presents transcripts of the workshop sessions alongside professional commentary, followed by reflections from the volunteers themselves.

With the emphasis on everyday problems, and clear examples of how REBT is applied, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy in India will be essential reading for psychotherapists, students, and other mental health professionals working in India, and anyone interested in the cross-cultural application of psychotherapy.

About the Author

Windy Dryden is in clinical and consultative practice and is an international authority on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. He is Emeritus Professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. He has worked in psychotherapy for more than 40 years and is the author or editor of over 225 books.

Reviews

"Professor Dryden's book offers students and practitioners of psychotherapy a unique opportunity to learn from transcripts of therapy sessions which he conducted with Indian clients. He demonstrates and elucidates problem assessment and solution using the RECBT model in his distinctive style, which is precise and thorough. It will help the readers to learn the nuances of applications of RECBT to a variety of client problems. These transcripts provide an excellent example of effective use of the therapeutic technique within the framework of a well-formed therapeutic alliance."

- Swati Khanolkar, Associate Fellow and Supervisor, Albert Ellis Institute, New York; Director, In Vivo-Mumbai Centre for RECBT

"For anyone who is interested in aspects of culture as they relate to problems of daily living in India, this book provides a window into how Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy can be applied. As always, Dryden delivers a product that invites the reader to understand the necessity of adapting a therapeutic approach to meet the needs of the individual through his expertise, experience, and unique style. By highlighting the significance of a focused assessment of each of the volunteer's adversity, Dryden demonstrates acumen in assisting each person he works with to overcome their problem efficiently and effectively in the context of their unique cultural framework. The combination of didactic teaching and verbatim transcripts affords the reader an in-depth perspective of the evolution of theory into practice. This book will not disappoint."

- Kristene A. Doyle, Ph.D., Director of the Albert Ellis Institute

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
