About the Author
Albert Boretti received his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florence in 1984. He also earned his Doctorate in Energy Engineering from the University of Florence in 1998.
Professor Boretti's research in combustion engines and powertrains span more than 30 years, and includes engines for racing, street cars and motorcycles, as well as engines for heavy duty vehicles. He has collaborated with the racing departments of the former FIAT group, Ferrari, Alfa Corse, and Fiat Auto Corse, covering powertrain developments for F1, Super Touring, and Rally Car applications. He has also provided his expertise to Aprilia Racing and other motorcycle teams on Superbike and Moto GP applications. He has authored about 400 peer review papers, published as a single or leading author, as well as patents, books, and book chapters.
Professor Boretti's work has included almost 20 years in the automotive industry in Italy, serving in research, production, and racing departments as a senior researcher and manager of teams and projects. He worked for more than 10 years in the academy within mechanical engineering departments in Australia, the United States, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. His academic work has included teaching, research, and administrative duties.
