At the first level, the book teaches novice prescribers practical diagnostic skills and provides a brief overview of pertinent genetic and neuroimaging findings to increase prescribing confidence. Next, it provides mid-level clinicians with intermediate techniques and guidelines for more difficult cases. The final level provides nuanced guidance for advanced practitioners or those who see the most treatment-resistant patients.

This approach allows a clinician to access this book periodically throughout the care of an individual patient and to gradually progress through a series of more advanced psychopharmacological techniques for making accurate and efficient diagnoses.

About the Author

Nevena V. Radonjic, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor and vice chair for education in psychiatry at Upstate Medical University. She specializes in providing care for those patients in need of maternal mental health care and is an expert in reproductive psychiatry.

Jeffrey S. MacDaniels, MD, is an assistant professor at Upstate Medical University who provides patient care as both an adult and child psychiatrist.

Thomas L. Schwartz, MD, is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor at Upstate Medical University who specializes in teaching psychopharmacology and is an expert in caring for patients with treatment-resistant depression.
