The framework is used to analyze political party development in the new democracies of East Asia (South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Indonesia.)

OLLI HELLMANN is Lecturer in Asian Political Economy at the University of Durham, UK. His research interests include electoral markets, political parties and electoral behaviour, with a particular focus on East Asia.
