Description

Our economic welfare and social well-being depend on our mobility. But our means of travel threaten the planet's sustainability. In this innovative text, Luca Bertolini shows how mobility planning - which takes seriously the demands of both urban and transport planning - offers solutions to transport challenges in the 21st Century.

'This is a book for urban planners, transport planners, as well as those thinking about urban futures. In a very clearly-written and presented text, Bertolini argues that accessibility not mobility should be at the core of integrated thinking about the relation between social activity, urban form and transport. With extensive illustrations, he explains what this involves and offers practical advice on how to develop such an approach, for consideration not just by academics and professionals, but all of us concerned about everyday urban living. Drawing on a rich knowledge of recent work in the fields of urban design, transport planning and innovation, Bertolini throughout encourages readers to follow up issues through the literature and to reflect and to debate alternative perspectives and options. Highly recommended!' - Patsy Healey, Newcastle University, UK 'Luca Bertolini engages with the dilemma of urban mobility and provides a framework for this challenge through the integration of both urban planning and transport planning. He draws on a wealth of knowledge and uses practical cases to 'make it real' for those willing to embrace the challenge. This is a superb text from a scholar whose curiosity pushes him to search for better ways of improving our way of life in the metropolis.' - Carey Curtis, Curtin University, Australia

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
