About the Author
George the Poet is a London-born spoken word performer of Ugandan heritage. His innovative brand of musical poetry has won him critical acclaim both as a recording artist and social commentator and has seen his work broadcast to billions of people worldwide. In the summer of 2018, he opened the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with his poem 'The Beauty of Union', and in 2019, his audio offering 'Have You Heard George's Podcast?' won a prestigious Peabody Award and 5 Gold British Podcast Awards, including the highly-coveted Podcast of the Year. The podcast was described by BBC R4 as "a story that could change the world". In 2021 George launched chapter 3 of the podcast, and is embarking on a PhD. Christienna Fryar is a historian of modern Britain, the British Empire, and the modern Caribbean. She has taught these subjects at universities in the United States and Britain, including the University of Liverpool, SUNY Buffalo State and Duke University. Originally from Virginia, she is currently a lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London where she convenes the MA in Black British History, the first taught masters' programme of its kind in the United Kingdom. In 2020 Fryar was named a BBC New Generation Thinker and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio.

Fast and efficient way to choose and receive books

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.

Found a hard to get book…

Finding a hard to get book on Booksplease and with it not being an over inflated price was great. Ordering was really easy with updates on despatch. The book was packaged well and in great condition. I will certainly use them again.
