Description

French-American journalist Cole Stangler argues that the beating heart of the City of Light lies in the striving, working-class districts, where residents are now being priced out. Stangler brings the real Paris to life, combining gripping, street-level reportage, stories of today's working-class Parisians, recent history and a sweeping analysis of the larger forces shaping the city.

About the Author
Cole Stangler is a journalist based in Marseille, France. A contributor to The Nation, Jacobin and the international news network France 24, he has also published work in the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Guardian, Foreign Policy and other outlets.

Reviews
'A helpful reflection on contemporary France ... Stangler takes us on a journey through the capital to see the city for ourselves. He walks the streets of La Goutte d'Or as a way of highlighting the contribution of immigrants to the fabric of the city, and he uses his visit to a squat in Montreuil to reflect on the material conditions in which the creative arts can flourish ... [Paris isn't Dead Yet] has a plausible and welcome humility'. -- Emile Chabal
"[This] astute and accessible mix of history and policy . . . will persuade readers of the positive impact affordable housing has on the character of a city." -- Publisher's Weekly
"A fascinating journey into Paris on the other side of the tracks. Stangler's lively and informative work delves into the rich history of the forgotten side of Paris and asks important questions about whether, in this age of urban gentrification and late-stage capitalism, the beating heart of the city can survive." -- Catherine Norris Trent, France 24

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
