Description

Outdoor and experiential learning has advanced in leaps and bounds over the last 20 years. Educators and developers in the Czech and Slovak Republics have been unexpected leaders in the field; the result of isolation of the country under communism and a unique mix of culture and geography. This book offers a guide to the theory and techniques, pioneered by the Czechs and Slovaks, including the concept of dramaturgy, a process involving elements of learning psychology, role play and theatre that concentrates on physical, social, creative and reflective/emotional learning states. It also includes a full set of guidelines for designing outdoor and experiential events, along with complete instructions for 30 games. The authors provide design opportunities to be more creative in the development of young people, as well as older learners and those involved in corporate management education.

About the Author
Andy Martin is a senior lecturer at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. Dan Franc is a training and e-learning consultant. Daniela ZounkovA! is a freelance translator, English and Norwegian teacher, and outdoor instructor.

Reviews
'For teachers, outdoor instructors and corporate trainers this should prove a fascinating and useful text, and a goad to go out and try something new.' Massey (Australia), November 2004 'The book is a 'must' for anyone involved in outdoor and experiential education who wishes to read more about the process and psychology of learning and to understand how to develop an adaptive approach to course design that allows you to 'go with the flow' and generate exceptional results.' Training Journal 'Martin, Franc and ZounkovA! are thus to be congratulated on their largely successful efforts to convey some of the spirit behind this approach.' Horizons, December 2004 '...the book deserves real credit for articulating the approach in a challenging, stimulating, and ultimately practical manner.' TrainingZone, March 2005 'The book deserves real credit for articulating the approach in a challenging, stimulating, and ultimately practical manner.' Accounting Web

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
