Description

Optics of Charged Particles, Second Edition describes how charged particles move in the main and fringing fields of magnetic or electrostatic dipoles, quadrupoles, and hexapoles. Since the first edition published over 30 years ago, developments have progressed with a whole host of key technologies based on the foundational principles of charged particle optics. Fully updated and revised, this new edition gives special emphasis to information needed for the design of mass spectrometers and mass spectrographs, which are key tools in multiple areas, from organic chemistry and drug development, to environmental trace investigations and understanding the formation of elements. This book not only describes the fundamental particle trajectories and beam shapes involved, but also provides guidelines for designing particle optical instruments. For experienced researchers in the field it highlights the latest developments and guides them in applying charged particle optics to the design of new mass analysing instruments, whilst for those who may only need a foundational overview, it provides the background knowledge required to accurately understand and analyse results when using such tools. By providing a comprehensive overview of the field of charged particle optics, this Second Edition of Optics of Charged Particles supports all those working, directly or indirectly, with charged-particle research or ion- and electron-analyzing instruments, from either a design or application perspective.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
