Description

A philosophical and meditative consideration of the complexities of ageing, memory, and the drain of urban life, through the pursuit of wellbeing and the restorative powers of nature. Includes a Foreword by Sarah Maclennan, Head of Creative Writing at Liverpool John Moores University, and the poem 'A Year on the Hill', showcased at the Bolton International Film Festival 2022 with animation by Rachel Appleton.

About the Author
Dave Morgan is a writer, community educator and arts organiser in the North-West of England, who was brought up in the Potteries. He co-founded the performance poetry organisation Write Out Loud and curates events for Live from Worktown, the Bolton-based arts collective. Dave has had a lifelong interest in China and the Far East, and a selection of work from his previous collection, Chuang Tse's Caterpillar, has recently been translated into Tamil for South Asian journal Thalam Quarterly. He tries to balance his personal passions for nature and quiet reflection with a recurring mission to help change people's lives for the better and drink in good company.

Reviews
"Puts to question a society that subdues the man of action with a garden allotment and a pint. Read with wonder and with hope." George Wallace, Walt Whitman Birthplace Writer in Residence / "Searingly straight-talking soulful poems grounded in Northern working-class imagery, landscapes and humour." Ann Grant, poet / "Nudges us into an almost forgotten world with his reflections and observations. A treat." Lynn Jelly, musician & writer / "Morgan writes with a mystical sensibility that resonates universally. Beautiful poems that are rooted in memory, but never give way to nostalgia." Oliver James Lomax, poet
