About the Author
JAMES ROOSE-EVANS' list of accomplishments is formidable. Fifty years ago he founded the Hampstead Theatre. He has written seventeen books, including the best-selling Inner Journey: Outer Journey and Experimental Theatre, and has directed countless plays, including his award-winning adaptation of 84 Charing Cross Road. He is a non-stipendiary Anglican priest, founded the Bleddfa Centre for the Creative Spirit (in North Wales) and continues to lead meditation, ritual and theatre masterclasses today. He lives in Hampstead, north London.

As James Roose-Evans moves into his tenth decade he brings us a diary as a gift. Drawing on his experiences as a man of the theatre, a lover of poetry and someone who has held on to his Christian faith, as well as spending years in Jungian analysis, the book has a most attractive meditative flavour. But he also spares us nothing of the daily trials - painful visits to the Royal Free Hospital, the diminishing of life's opportunities - as well as the joy of planting bulbs and making chutney. He makes it quite clear in his view that this is not a last farewell but the final pathway to a new beginning' Melvyn Bragg.
