Description

My Song Is Love Unknown is a wonderful sacred work, set for a solo quartet of singers and SATB choir, and is based on John Ireland's well-loved hymn-tune Love Unknown. Alexander L'Estrange expertly takes fragments of Ireland's melody, developing, interweaving and re-harmonising them to create a powerful, ethereal sound-world that perfectly reflects the poem's themes of love, sorrow, passion, death and ecstasy.

The Faber Choral Signature Series introduces a wealth of new or recently written choral music to choirs in search of fresh repertoire. The series draws in a rich diversity of contemporary composers and includes both lighter and more challenging contemporary works, offering a thrilling array of varied styles.

About the Author
Alexander L'Estrange is a musician of outstanding versatility. Not only does his Oxford choral background shine through in his works, so too does his eclectic taste in music, which includes jazz, pop, music theatre and world music. As a musician who enjoys collaborating with acappella groups, choirs and choral societies, L'Estrange has worked on a number of pieces with the likes of Tenebrae, The Swingle Singers, National Youth Music Theatre, countless cathedral choirs, school and community choirs and choral societies worldwide. More recently, he has worked on Zimbe!, his 40-minute African-inspired work that incorporates several of his influences into one piece. The success of this was so large that within 2 years of publication, more than 50 performances had been lined up internationally. A musician that is famed for constantly exploring new musical fields, L'Estrange has quickly and deservedly gained acclaim from both critics and fellow musicians.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
