Description

This book explores how multiculturalism should be promoted throughout higher education due to its benefits for students. It adopts a strengths-based student-centred perspective and offers practical illustrations of how multicultural education can instigate students to understand each other and to relate to each other meaningfully. With the rise of international students in higher education across the globe it is crucial that institutions promote multicultural education for their wider communities.

"Damian Spiteri takes us through a well-crafted, critical survey of the potential, complexity and fluidity of multicultural education within institutions of higher learning. This semi-autobiographical work shows how discrimination can be challenged, identities affirmed and equity in education addressed. The research is based on an acknowledgement of the urgent need for authentic dialogues and concrete intercultural actions that challenge inequalities and discriminations unfolding within education institutions. Spiteri's work calls for attitudinal and systemic change, providing insights into policy and practice that transcend educational institutions." (Professor Carmel Borg, University of Malta)

About the Author

Reviews
"A debut book elaborates on the fundamental ideas at play in the growing field of multicultural education, specifically at the college/university level. In this work, Spiteri (Social Policy and Social Work/Univ. of York) surveys the studies that lay out the theoretical groundwork for this cross-disciplinary endeavour. ... vital for educators and particularly valuable for those entering the profession." (Kirkus Reviews, November, 2016)

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
