Using examples mostly from media and other public speeches and writings, author Dilin Liu argues that sports and business constitute the dominant metaphors in American English while family and eating form the prevailing metaphors in Chinese. To assist the reader in understanding the metaphors discussed, the book contains a glossary of dominant American and Chinese metaphorical idioms.
