Description

In this poignant memoir, Agathe von Trapp shares the true story behind "The Sound of Music". As the oldest von Trapp daughter, Agathe's impeccable recall of her childhood brings fresh life to the events that forged enduring bonds within her family. Her memories of her idyllic Austrian home transport readers back to the time before the von Trapps came to America and reveal a close knit group of siblings who adored their gentle father, mourned the tragic loss of their mother, and welcomed the arrival of their second mother, Maria. Von Trapp's sketches and photos illustrate this charming autobiography of a legendary family.

About the Author
Agathe von Trapp was born in Austria in 1913. A member of the original Trapp Family Singers, Agathe traveled with the group on their worldwide concert tours in thirty countries. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

Reviews
"The eldest daughter in the Trapp Family Singers writes poignantly...In her telling, we learn the real details in this truly providential tale about a tight-knit, devoted, and wonderfully gifted family." -- Publishers Weekly "Agathe von Trapp's World War II story is the stuff of legend -- or, as she would have it, myth. In her memoir, Memories Before and After the Sound of Music, von Trapp, the eldest sister in the famed singing family, attempts to set the record straight...Charming." -- Washington Post "Many fans of 'The Sound of Music' are curious about how much of it is truth and how much is poetic license. This newly released paperback offers some first-person insight." -- Newsday

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
