Being of African American, Native American, and white descent, erica lewis' poems recount her friends and family's--especially the women's--complex history with race, gender, and class in America, what it means to live with your own history, and how to move on. Each poem is framed by phrases from the lyrics of Stevie Wonder's Motown records, but the poems themselves are homages to her women kin, friends, and other contemporary women poets. About the Author
erica lewis lives in San Francisco. Her books include daryl hall is my boyfriend (Barrelhouse 2015), murmur in the inventory (Shearsman Books), and the precipice of jupiter (Queue Books) and camera obscura (BlazeVox Books), both collaborations with artist Mark Stephen Finein. Tyrone Williams full-length collections of poetry include the Adventures of Pi (2011), and Howell (2011). Williams is the editor of African American Literature: Revised Edition (2008). In 2013, he was a writer for the Poetry Foundation's Harriet. He teaches at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
