Description

A joyful exploration of family life, written by one of the most outstanding contemporary authors of our generation.

This beautiful family story follows a young girl called Chino as she plays with her mama's sleeping scarf through the day. Running with the scarf, Chino weaves together little incidentals of home life into a glorious celebration of the power of a mother-daughter relationship, and the gentle joys that build a perfect day. Exquisitely written with compelling simplicity, this is a heartfelt homage to family love.

A compelling debut picture book from one of the most important voices in literature today, brought into glorious technicolour through the vibrant and contemporary illustrations of Joelle Avelino.

This incredible new illustrated children's picture book about family, love and the mother-daughter relationship comes from award-winning Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Reviews

'A joyful, acutely observed picture-book account of imaginative adventures with family, a beloved soft toy, and, of course, Mama's scarf' Guardian

'The recurring pattern of Mama's vivid green scarf, decorated with bright red and blue rings and beautifully reproduced on the endsheets, poignantly evokes a sense of the circle of life' Observer

'Illustrations by Joelle Avelino help to bring to life the simple yet powerful message, which encourages every child and parent to keep their imagination alive' Independent

"[Mama's Sleeping Scarf] is a celebration of mother-daughter love and shows how that bond remains, and in fact can be strengthened through objects rich with memories and symbolism . . . This is a heartwarming little tale for children who will be comforted by the notion that even when she is absent, their mother is not far away" Big Issue

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
