Description

A guide for organists revealing that improvisation is within the grasp of all students, even for those with minimal keyboard skills. The book is organized in a loosely graded fashion with exercises that are not only simple and useful, but musically satisfying from the very start. Written in an engaging and readable manner, this text will work well in both the classroom and the private study setting and can serve as a prerequisite text to Gerre Hancock's Improvising: How to Master the Art.
Reviews
Overduin's Making Music is strong on practicalities, and, because the path it proposes is made so user-friendly and so little remains mystifying, it may actually open doors for those willing to make the effort to enter. * Lawrence Archbold, Music and Letters, Vol.81, No.3, 2000. *
Improvisation for Organists creates a very favourable impression ... a useful addition to the library of any organist. * Ronald Frost, Online Journal, Issue 3, Sept, 2000. *
printed beautifully ... and a (generous) spiral binding makes it easy to handle on the organ music desk. * Ronald Frost, Online Journal, Issue 3, Sept, 2000. *
this treatise has much to commend it. It is down-to-earch, often witty and invariably encouraging. * Ronald Frost, Online Journal, Issue 3, Sept, 2000. *
much commonsense ... ('Hymn Anthems') is a mightily effective outline as to how to improvise introductions and interludes for congregational hymns, an interesting procedure that I have not seen discussed elsewhere. * Ronald Frost, Online Journal, Issue 3, Sept, 2000. *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
