Description

This Guide provides the reader with a chronological survey of contemporary dance. It is studded with references to Internet sources to satisfy readers who may not have access to live performances. Rather than illustrating this book with photographs - Google, YouTube, Vimeo and similar sites have become the illustrators. Focusing on dance innovation from the late 19th century to today, this history provides the reader with accessible information on the major contributors to the art. Organized chronologically by the decades in which innovators were born or dance organizations were founded, it covers more than 110 choreographers, companies, institutions, and dancers from both modern dance and ballet, and from around the world. Readers can view clips of dances from over 220 Internet search addresses that illustrate the text. Video-graphics are provided at the end of each chapter for viewing complete dances and documentaries.

Reviews
"A well-executed compilation featuring more than 110 innovators of contemporary dance worldwide. Included within are Internet URLs. An entertaining read for those wishing to know more about dance, and a reliable resource for those engaged in more scholarly pursuits." --M.W. Wildman, "Choice" "When the authors titled this book "Looking at Contemporary Dance: A Guide for the Internet Age," they were being quite literal. Central to the book are 220 search addresses. Useful and up-to-date for teaching dance history and choreography." --Marty Sprague, "Journal of Dance Education"

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
