Reviews
It's really important for children to realise that we can all have an impact on the future of our world. It can seem almost impossible for individuals to have an impact but the little things really do make a difference, as this fascinating and thought-provoking book shows. This book includes over 100 puzzles, games, craft activities, experiments and tips for children aged 7+, and they all have a potential impact on Earth's future. The activities encourage young people to become responsible global citizens, developing understanding, empathy and a sense of responsibility by encouraging them to think about and act on the ideas. Little Book for Big Changes helps young people understand complex global challenges and focuses on the key role today's children will play in tomorrow's society. The ideas are wide-ranging and offer lots of opportunities for children to work together on projects that will have a real impact. Each activity is ably complemented by follow-up ideas. A great way to stimulate discussion and an ideal school resource to give teachers inspiration. It's all engagingly presented too. * Parents in Touch *

At school, we constantly discuss how we can be kinder, more helpful, more responsible and more caring individuals, both in the classrooms and playground and beyond. Children are rewarded for displaying such virtues in our Rainbow Book so we always are thinking about how we can make life better for others. This also includes how we can better care for our environment and raise money for those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Little Book for Big Change sits well not only with our values but with anyone who feels strongly about making a difference. It covers concerns such as global warming, education (and fair access to it for all children), hunger and human rights and suggests ways in which children can think about these topics and try to make a difference. For example, they are asked to make a list of things they actually need as opposed to what they just want, to highlight the difference between the two situations. There are also tips on small ways to help the environment, such as turning lights off when you aren't in a room, eating fruit and vegetables that are in season, rather than imported by air, and planting trees. There are also interesting and fun activities such as making a T shirt bag and making your own compost that young children will enjoy doing.
This new release from Studio Press will be a welcome addition to our Library and Staffroom, which is where I intend to place it. The book appeals to children but I feel it has the most impact when adults share it with young people to talk through the issues and ensure that they understand the importance of subsequent actions. Additionally, some of the activities will be more appropriate with adult help, especially with younger children.
Little Book for Big Changes is an excellent resource to use either in school settings or at home to encourage children and their families and friends to make a difference.

* Childtastic Books *
Environmental awareness has been one of the biggest issues in 2018, so little wonder then that the word plastic is Oxford Children's word of the year. The younger generation are becoming passionate about our planet and this timely book - packed with fun activities and tips - provides children with a fascinating insight into the environmental problems that are plaguing society today. But Little Book for Big Changes doesn't just inform youngsters about the issues, it offers fun, educational and creative ways to help people try to change the world for the better including over 100 puzzles, games, craft activities, experiments, ideas and tips on how to recycle and reduce plastic waste. The book is the brainchild of Karen Ng and Kirsten Liepmann who met at business school where they connected over a shared passion for social impact, and the desire to help others make a positive difference in the world. The two came up with the idea for the book and got the talented Mona Karaivanova involved to bring the content to life with bright and engaging illustrations. With chapters on topics like global warming, hunger and nutrition, diversity and inclusion, health and hygiene, peace and order, resources and waste, the book helps young people understand complex global challenges such as inequality and climate change, and is designed to inform, empower and motivate tomorrow's leaders to help make the world a better place. This innovative activity book encourages young people to become responsible global citizens, develop understanding, empathy and a sense of responsibility, empowering them to protect the environment and to make the world a fairer place. * Lancashire Evening Post *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
