Description

Little Big Sister tells the story of Starr, a girl with dwarfism who lives with her mum and younger sister, Babs. As the girls get older and Babs overtakes Starr's height, Starr understands there is something different about her.

When Starr starts primary school she is at first upset by being shorter than the other children. But with help from her mum and teacher, Starr finds the courage to shine.

A fun and gentle story about disability, family and fitting in, told by a major children's author and illustrated by an artist with dwarfism.

About the Author

Eoin Colfer is the author of the internationally bestselling Artemis Fowl series, which has sold over 25 million copies and was named the public's favourite Puffin Modern Classic of all time. Eoin's work for younger readers includes the award-winning picturebook Imaginary Fred, a collaboration with artist Oliver Jeffers. Eoin served as Laureate na nOg (Irish children's laureate) 2014-2016.

Celia Ivey is a Cornish-French illustrator born with dwarfism, currently based in Bristol, U.K. She attained her BA (Hons) in Visual Communication & Illustration at the University of West London.Aside from her love of brightly-coloured jumpers and a tendency to laugh at her own jokes, she is passionate about visual storytelling and spends her time immersed in a vibrant world of pop art, comics, and 1950's animation. Celia works exclusively on an iPad Pro, using the 'Procreate' app, as she finds it to be the most accessible medium--portable, and greatly facilitated to produce finished work. As a disabled artist, Celia has a unique perspective that is invaluable to produce nuanced storytelling, combined with her ever-present love of vibrant colour.

Reviews

"Takes quite a mature approach to how it feels to be different and how saying difference doesn't matter is sometimes more of a hindrance than a help. It's also about the big love that can come with facing that difference as a team, and the joy of having a sister, big or small, or both at once."

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
