Description

The Kerry Way runs around Ireland's most beautiful peninsula for 130 miles (210 km), starting from Killarney. It features mountain scenery and coastal panoramas, and is rich in geology and wildlife. The book contains large-scale mapping, 100 colour photographs and is robust and rainproof. It has a special feature on the ascent of Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest peak. This third edition has been fully revised and updated following a comprehensive route check in 2021.

About the Author

Author 1: A dedicated lifelong walker, Sandra worked in Melbourne, Australia, as an archivist and historian and wrote many articles and books on walking and national parks in south-eastern Australia. She moved to Scotland in 1989, and in recent years she has written guidebooks for Lonely Planet, Rucksack Readers and Sunflower Books.

Author 2: John G O'Dwyer broadcasts regularly on outdoor matters in Ireland. Over the last 20 years he has published upland walks in the Irish Times and written four walking guides to the countryside. He knows the Kerry Way well, and rewalked many parts of it in 2021 for this edition.

Reviews

"An eye-catching, colourful publication with clear directions, extensive background information and superb photographs ... Text panels give interesting 'asides' on Killarney National Park, Muckross House, Derrynane and the Skelligs, and a Killarney street map, are welcome additions. The most important thing, however, the walking directions are detailed and clear." from John Monaghan's review of the first ed in Irish Mountain Log (Spring 2006) "The layout is refreshingly different, with over 60 fine colour photos showing flora and fauna as well as the panoramic mountain and coastal views. There is good background information on geology, wildlife, travel and where to eat and drink ... It's a nice walk, and a superb book." from John Gillham's review of the first ed in Bootprint December 2005

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
