Though the famous bullet train launched in 1964, many steam engines were still operational in Japan before withdrawal in 1975. About the Author
Yoshi Hashida photographed steam trains on Japan's railways from the early 1970s up to the end of the era. Based in Osaka at the time, he now lives in Great Britain.
