The global economy requires globalized movement of goods. Freight transport operations need to be efficient, productive, safe and secure, clean and green. About the Author
Hironao Kawashima is an emeritus professor at Keio University, Japan. Dr Kawashima has been involved in various ITS projects with the aim of developing vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems to improve safety and comfort of urban road transport. He is the chairman of the management committee of the ITS Info-Communication Forum, ARIB, associate editor of IET Intelligent Transport Systems, and was involved in the development of ISO/TC204(ITS).
