Reviews
'Introduction to Psychiatry: Preclinical Foundations and Clinical Essentials by Walker, Schlozman and Alpert, is a remarkable achievement and will be of extraordinary value to new learners in our field. It embraces the necessary complexity of psychiatry but consistently provides a clear scaffolding so that the reader never loses 'the forest for the trees'. The synthesis of an enormous evidence base is conveyed with clarity and rigor. Just as important, the text is written with respect and compassion for patients, and with an appreciation of the growth mindset we encourage in students and residents. I cannot imagine a better place to begin one's explorations of psychiatry than this book.' Adam M. Brenner, M.D. Editor-in-Chief, Academic Psychiatry, Professor of Psychiatry and Distinguished Teaching Professor, Vice Chair for Education and Residency Training Director in Psychiatry, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
'This book meets the needs of the intended audience by comprehensively discussing a wide variety of psychiatric topics. The chapters are detailed, yet easy to read and comprised of only relevant information.' Chad R. Percifield, Doody's Notes
'This essential textbook should be in every clinic to introduce students, trainees, and health professionals to the fundamentals of mental health clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, major diagnostic categories, gender issues, sleep disorders, psychosocial interventions, and global perspectives ... Highly recommended.' S. M., Valente, Choice Magazine
