About the Author
Ricardo Queiros e doutorado em Ciencia de Computadores e Professor Adjunto na area de Informatica na Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design do Instituto Politecnico do Porto onde leciona disciplinas relacionadas com programacao Web e movel. E tambem investigador na area da gamificacao, interoperabilidade em sistemas de e-learning e aprendizagem de linguagens de programacao, no Centro de Investigacao em Sistemas Computacionais Avancados (CRACS), do INESC TEC Porto. E tambem Coordenador do Gabinete de Ensino a Distancia do Centro de Inovacao Pedagogica (CIP) do Politecnico do Porto. E o responsavel pela International Computer Programming Education Conference (ICPEC), a primeira conferencia internacional dedicada exclusivamente ao ensino da programacao de computadores. Atualmente trabalha na concecao e implementacao de ambientes de aprendizagem gamificados para fomentar o processo de ensino-aprendizagem de cursos de programacao de computadores. E autor de mais de 100 livros e publicacoes cientificas focados nos topicos de ensino e investigacao previamente referidos. Mario Cruz is an Associate Professor in Foreign Language Teaching (English and Spanish), at the School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto, where he teaches Spanish as a Foreign Language, Hispano-American Literatures and Cultures, English Teaching in Primary Education, Didactic Resources in Teaching English and supervises the pedagogical practice of future teachers. He is also an integrated researcher at inED - Center for Research and Innovation in Education at the School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto and a collaborator at CIDTFF at the University of Aveiro. Being professionalized in recruitment groups 120 - English, 220 - Portuguese and English, 330 - English, 340 - German, 350 - Spanish and 910 - Special Education, he has worked as a teacher in public schools of basic and secondary education, since the school year of 2001-2002 until the school year 2013-2014. He also collaborated at the Paula Frassinetti School of Education (from 2003 to 2012) where he taught English Language, English Language Didactics, Information and Communication Technologies in Education, Information and Communication Technologies in Inclusive Education Contexts, Educational Technologies in English Teaching, Deep Issues of Differentiated Intervention, among other curricular units. He holds a PhD in Didactics and Professional Development from the University of Aveiro, a PhD in Linguistic Studies from the University of Vigo and a MA in Language Didactics (University of Aveiro), Teaching English and Spanish in Basic Education (Polytechnic of Porto - Escola Superior de Educacao) and Teaching English and Spanish at the 3rd of Basic Education and Secondary Education (University of Aveiro). His main doctoral theses and dissertations and MA's reports focus on: critical hyper-pedagogy, the intercultural and multilingual approach, the use of technologies in the teaching-learning process and linguistic and cultural varieties. He is currently coordinator of the thematic line "Teacher Training" at inED, where he directs the research projects: "CLIL 4 U - implementation, monitoring and evaluation of bilingual teaching projects", "PEPPA 6/7 - Primary English Practice Program for Ages 6/7", "Schoolers and Scholars (SnS): Role-Playing Games (RPG) in the teaching and learning process at Primary Education" and "VarLang - Linguistic and cultural varieties in the teaching of foreign languages". Daniela Mascarenhas is an adjunct professor at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. She is involved in the training of early childhood educators and teachers of the 1st and 2nd cycle of basic education. She has published several articles and is a collaborating researcher in several research projects allocated to the research centers CeiED and inED. She is an integrated researcher in inED center. She is a trainer in several continuing education programs for teachers and educators in Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe. Post-Doctorate in Education Sciences, in the specialty of Pedagogical Supervision, from the University of Minho (2019). Ph.D. in Education and Mathematics Didactics from the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Granada (2011) and validated by the University of Porto. She obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Education and Didactics of Mathematics from the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Granada (2010). She graduated in Mathematics (via teaching) from the University of Minho (2003).
