A writer, poet and teacher, his work has also been shortlisted for the Herald Scottish Culture Awards, Saltire Literary Awards, Highland Book Prize, Author's Club First Novel Award, and the Callum Macdonald Memorial Award. His critically acclaimed non-fiction brings to life the culture and nature of the Scottish islands, and he appears regularly on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Scotland.
