Description

This book is a concise, focused practitioner's guide to dealing with international estates. It covers the problems and pitfalls a busy probate practitioner in England and Wales may meet, and deals both with UK clients who have assets overseas as well as non-UK based clients with assets in England and Wales.

Featuring case studies and commentary from foreign lawyers, the book explores:

* the concept of domicile

* taxation

* personal representatives

* succession rules

* contentious issues

* applying for probate.

Whether you are advising a foreign national or a UK citizen, this is a necessary and practical resource to help you identify and navigate many of the complex planning and regulatory compliance issues involved in international estates work.

About the Author

Jo Summers has practised in private client and wealth since qualifying, building a reputation for dealing effectively with international estates. She is known for her expertise on domicile issues, including providing domicile opinions for succession, divorce and tax purposes.

Jo has extensive experience of handling probate applications with an international element, whether that is UK clients with assets overseas, or non-UK clients with UK situated assets. She advises on obtaining relief from double taxation, where tax is due in more than one country, as well as on the practical steps needed to deal with assets in multiple jurisdictions.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
