Description

An in-depth look at the many clever and crazy ways that animals protect themselves from predators in the wild!

For many animals, life is a constant battle to stay off a predator's menu, and this book explores lots of cunning ways they avoid being eaten!

From camouflage and colour-changing, natural armour, playing dead, great escapes, detachable body parts, and impressive ways of fighting back, the range of survival tactics in the natural world is quite astonishing. How Not To Get Eaten is a brilliant introduction to the ingenious anti-predator strategies in the natural world.

You can explore:

-Features a wide variety of incredible animal defences from a wide variety of different species.
-The science behind each animal defence mechanism is clearly explained through expertly written text and accompanying images
-Combines photography and illustrations

Discover how meerkats post sentries to guard their homes and possums play dead, to how mimic octopuses change their shape and bombardier beetles unleash a chemical weapon attack! This awe-inspiring animal is the only one of it's kind on the market! Whilst a lot of animal books focus on predators, this unique title provides an inspiring and detailed insight into the lives of prey.

How Not to Get Eaten is broken down into several sections based around a theme to make the content easy to understand. Examples include: detection, safe shelters, working in groups, hiding in plain sight, armour, protective parents, and fighting back.

A must-have volume for curious children aged 7-9, this animal book is filled with intriguing illustrations and spectacular photographs of the amazing, obscure, and incredibly strange.

You'll never look at nature the same way again!

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
