Description

In her debut book, designer Heidi Caillier shows how to mix moody color with layers of pattern, natural materials, and textures to create spaces that are both beautifully curated and comfortably livable. Heidi Caillier believes that our homes should create a sense of place, and serve as the setting for lifelong memories. In her first book, she shares twelve houses from across the country, from the islands of Puget Sound to the Berkshires. The rooms of these houses are simultaneously nostalgic and of the moment. Caillier is a master of mixing patterns, combining florals with graphic lines and shapes, as well as using deeper, muddy colors to create coziness and warmth. There is a tension between masculine and feminine, modern and traditional as vintage pieces mingle with contemporary to create spaces that feel intrinsically inviting and effortlessly designed. A creative mind who took the path less traveled, Caillier informs her interiors and this book with the same vibrant and enthusiastically patterned joie de vivre that colors her own life; creating homes that are nostalgic, romantic, creative, inviting, and made for both the big and small moments of life. Her warm and layered interiors create a backdrop for living at the ready to create memories of home.

Reviews
"Interior designer Heidi Caillier - whose interiors are the subject of the new book Heidi Caillier: Memories of Home (Rizzoli) - came into her own with a move from Northern California to the Pacific Northwest, where the persistent marine layer encouraged the enticing moody aesthetic that has defined the last 10 years of her career. Inviting havens of comfort and security, her homes effortlessly swirl together modern and traditional, florals and plaids, the new and the well-worn, generating what Caillier has dubbed 'backdrops for creating beautiful memories.'" -THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

"In her debut book, Seattle designer Heidi Caillier shows how to mix moody color with layers of pattern, natural materials, and textures." -HOUSE & HOME

"In her first book, the West Coast designer Heidi Caillier showcases 12 homes that evoke a sense of place and intimacy. Each is filled with items and artifacts in her signature mix of pattern and color with the aim of evoking the feeling of home." -GLOBAL MANSION

"Heidi Caillier's book debut shows off her mastery of mixing prints, a moody color palette, natural materials, and layers of textures to create her signature spaces, captured by photographer Haris Kenjar. -MOFFLY MEDIA
"
"It's Heidi Caillier belief that our homes should serve as settings for memories to be made and beautiful places of refuge. The ethos is illustrated in the 12 romantic houses presented in her debut book. Discover how Caillier mixes moody palettes, natural materials, and buzzy patterns to make warm and inviting homes." -VERANDA

"Designer Heidi Caillier's earthy green breakfast nook and soapstone counters in the kitchen of her North Tacoma, Washington, Tudor are hard to resist. The nostalgic setup is in the pages of this book, as is a 1920s Craftsman in the Berkeley Hills that pairs an antique dhurrie rug with glossy pink tiles. Readers will also discover a late 18th-century house in Bedford, New York, done up with skirted plaid dining chairs backdropped by de Gournay wallpaper-more evidence of the inviting yet unfussy romance Caillier instills in her projects." -ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
