Description

Exploring the interplay between globalization, education and international development, this comprehensive introduction surveys the impact of global education policies on local policy in developing countries. With chapters written by leading international scholars in the field, drawing on a full range of theoretical perspectives and offering a diverse selection of case studies, this new edition has been revised and updated throughout to reflect changing policy debates and issues whilst maintaining the theoretical and intellectual coherence of the first edition. This second edition of Global Education Policy and International Development includes: - Seven entirely new chapters on the emerging debates in the field, including large-scale assessments, quality of teaching and education in emergencies - Contributions from the leading scholars in the field, such as Stephen J. Ball, Roger Dale, Susan Robertson, Gita Steiner-Khamsi and Elaine Unterhalter - Supportive pedagogical features such as chapter outlines, questions for discussion, key reading recommendations and boxed case studies and vignettes - Updated case studies from a variety of countries in the Global South From students of education, development and globalization to practitioners working in developing contexts, Global Education Policy and International Development is an essential textbook for those seeking to understand how global forces and local realities meet to shape education policy in the developing world.

Drawing on international case studies and a range of theoretical perspectives, this new edition explores the latest research and debates on the impact of globalization on local education policy in developing countries.

Reviews
While a core concern of this collection is the ongoing theoretical and methodological debates surrounding the study of policy borrowing and transfer, the book offers crucial insights for any practitioners or researchers involved with education or international development (...) The book is an important addition to the reading lists of Masters programmes for both international development and education studies, and can offer a much-needed cross-cultural perspective to otherwise Western-focused courses. * Educational Management Administration & Leadership (of the first edition) *
Provides fundamental insights into the central issues that need to be considered by scholars, policy makers, and practitioners working in the intersecting fields of education and international development. * Harvard Education Review (of the first edition) *
[The book] has, in my view, the rare quality of being both useful as a foundational theoretical analysis on the field of global education policy while at the same time providing clear insights into how the phenomena studied are having direct, real world consequences on education practice in general; from curricular practice to financing and the role of civil society and a variety of supranational stakeholders not previously characterized at this level of detail. * Education Review (of the first edition) *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
