Geordie Newcastle is a unique collection of evocative photographs from a golden age in Newcastle's past. The result of hours of research in Newcastle City Library's archive to restore photographs from the original glass plates which hadn't been touched for decades. From the end of the 19th Century to the 1950s, the pictures chosen offer us a glimpse into a world that some of us will remember with fondness and that helped shape what it means to be a Geordie today.

About the Author
Neil R. Storey is an award winning social historian who guest lectures all over the UK. He has published over forty books and has produced countless articles for national magazines and journals. He has a nationally respected archive of social and military history photographs and ephemera and regularly appears as guest expert on television and radio factual programmes and documentaries including BBC's Who Do You Think You Are?. Fiona Kay is a born and bred Geordie girl and proud of it. She works extensively in archives and has a remarkable collection of North East social history and fashion photographs to illustrate her books and talks. They are both creative consultants for national and local history projects that make history interactive and accessible for all ages . Neil and Fiona formed their dynamic writing partnership in 2016, their books include: Newcastle Battalions on the Somme (Tyne Bridge 2016),Voices of the First World War: Northumberland & Tyneside's War (Amberley 2017), Women in the Second World War (Amberley 2019) and Newcastle and Tyneside in the Second World War (Tyne Bridge 2020)
