About the Author
Laurie Halse Anderson lives in the USA and is the multi-award-winning author of many bestselling novels, including Speak and Fever 1793. Chains is the first in a series of three books to feature the defiant heroine Isabel, and was shortlisted for the 2010 Carnegie Medal. Forge continues the story from Curzon's perspective. While researching Forge, Laurie walked barefoot in the snow, cooked over open fires, split wood and gained a new appreciation for the sacrifices made by Americans who were commited to the freedom of all people.
