This machine applique method uses fusible interfacing or wash away applique sheets. The applique sheets can print the templates on an inkjet printer. The fusible surface is sewn onto the right side of the fabric with a 1/8" seam. The interfacing is slit and the fabric is pulled through. The applique is pressed on to the background and attached with stitching. There are twelve projects, many in six sizes. They are graded in levels of difficulty from 1 to 3

I feel this is an applique book for those who think they don't like applique! It focuses on rather nifty technique that uses light-weight fusible web to create applique motifs that are fused ot the backing fabric and also have hemmed the edges. The book starts with an overview of the basic technique and looks at the pros and cones od the two main branded products that can be used. Follow this are twelve projects, each one clearly illustrated and patterned in a variety of sizes from baby to king size. The technique is exaplined in a way that makes it very accessible and I particularly like the way it shows the reader how to apply it to basic shapes such as circles, as well as uild up more intricate designs such a frogs. If you like the look of curved blocks, but are slightly hesitant to attempt them as you think it may be tricky, this is the book for you

Applique quilts can be stunning-but they also have a reputation for being fussy, difficult, and time consuming. Over the years, a number of machine-applique techniques have been developed with the intention of saving quilters time while providing a look similar to traditional needle-turn or prepared-edge applique. The quilts in this book employ a technique called flip and fuse, which uses single-sided fusible interfacing (commonly available at fabric stores) to affix the applique pieces to the background fabric. The "flip" part of the name comes from the way the interfacing is stitched to the applique fabric, then flipped inside out to turn the edges under, mimicking the neatly turned edges of hand applique. Quilter Harmening describes the basic process, followed by a variety of patterns featuring flip and fuse applique. Each pattern includes a full cutting chart for sizes ranging from baby to queen (a few patterns also include king-size instructions), along with directions for any necessary piecing and the flip and fuse applique. Suggestions for quilting the finished pieces are provided, as are traceable templates for the appliques. VERDICT Applique is ever popular, and quilters who like the look of it without the time-consuming hand stitching may be interested in the flip and fuse approach.

Become an applique cheat. Create fabulous applique quilts with this quick and easy method. Flip and fuse sounds a bit like me doing electrics, but it's a simple, accurate way to applique, designed for speed and economy. 12 fun projects introduce you to this foolproof method. There is no hand sewing, applique is machine stitched in place. You can choose lightweight interfacing or soluble applique sheets and you'll need a turning tool. The designs have skill levels so this book is suitable for anyone from beginner upwards. Excellent projects and the superb attention to detail that I have come to expect form C & T Publishing. Superb charts for fabric requirements for six different sized quilts (from Baby to King), cutting and construction. Each design has such clear professional photography. There are ideas for alternatives to the projects. I love Petal Patch with its curved edges and Circle Burst but to be honest they are all great designs. The Snowflake wall hanging is like an Hawaiian quilt and it is only difficulty level 1. Dare I attempt this? Pattern sheets are found at the back of the book and templates are actual size without seam allowances. It's a fantastic book - try a new way to applique today.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
