Description

This book provides an excellent resource for understanding the forces in international trade liberalization over two centuries that have brought us to this point, where the successes, setbacks and the countervailing forces now vie for the public's mind and support: the outcome of which will determine the future progress of increased globalization, or lack thereof.

The book also examines whether trade policy has indeed promoted exports in the vast number of countries which increasingly look to trade agreements to gain a competitive edge, and to what extent export-driven growth has been an important force in advancing economic development around the world. In doing so, the book examines one of the most controversial issues in economic development: the promotion and significance of export-led growth.

He is the author of Japan's Aid: Lessons for Economic Growth, Development and Political Economy.

Reviews

'This book presents an excellent summary of relevant facts about exports, trade policy, and economic growth across countries in different regions of the world over a period of two centuries since the 1820s... Overall, this is an excellent reference book for those who study or intend to study trade policy, exports, and economic growth, and their interrelations. It is a source of enormous information with references to relevant and related literature and insights. This is an extremely useful reference for trade policy-makers as well.' The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
