Description

Stemming from an international and multidisciplinary network of leading specialists, this best-selling text is fully updated with new chapter additions. With the first edition prepared at the end of the last century and the second edition adding inter-regional relations, this new edition focuses on competing models of regional cooperation within a multipolar world and the role of European Union. This new edition offers: - A comparative analysis of regional cooperation and of both US-centred and EU-centred interregionalism. - A fresh exploration of key issues of regionalism versus globalization and the potential for world economic and political governance through regional cooperation, notably in hard times. - A vigorous response to conventional wisdom on the controversial EU international identity - An appendix on regional and interregional organizations. - A key resource for postgraduate or undergraduate study and research of international relations, European integration studies, comparative politics and international political economy. Taking into account both the expanded European Union and regional cooperation in every continent, this multidisciplinary volume comprises contributions from established scholars in the field: A. Gamble, P. Padoan, G. Joffe, G. Therborn, Th. Meyer, R. Higgott, B. Hettne / F. Ponjaert, F. Soederbaum, Ch. Deblock, K. Eliassen / A. Arnottir, S. Keukeleire / I. Petrova, S. Santander and M. TelA(2) (editor).

About the Author
Mario TelA(2) is Jean Monnet professor of International Relations at Universite Libre de Bruxelles and teaches EU institutions at LUISS, Rome.

Reviews
'European Union and New Regionalism raises crucial questions about regionalism in the contemporary world. How do globalization and domestic politics shape and constrain regionalism? How does regionalism, in turn, affect patterns of globalization and domestic politics in participating states? This volume constitutes an important contribution to our understanding of regionalism's causes and effects.' Robert O. Keohane, Princeton University, USA 'With its 3rd edition this volume gains the status of a classic. Indeed, European Union and New Regionalism provides extremely useful new insights into the study of regions and regional integration from various theoretical perspectives and through a comparative approach. It further has the merit to assess the relevance of the EU as a regional power in a number of domains. This book is a key reference for students and academics interested in the current trends in regionalism.' Luk Van Langenhove, United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies, Belgium 'European Union and New Regionalism is a timely relaunch of the debate on how the EU affects regional cooperation across the globe. Mario TelA(2) and his team succeed in setting the academic research agenda. The volume hosts innovative, new chapters on NAFTA, Latin America, and EU-Russian relations. It enriches the literature, juxtaposing global and domestic influences and emphasizing the notion of competing regionalisms.' Bertjan Verbeek, Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
