He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Cengiz Ertekin's research includes nonlinear wave theories, hydroelasticity, wave energy, and storm impact. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
