Description

Climate change is no longer deniable. Neither is the fact that greenhouse gas emissions due to human activities have to be mitigated. The question, is how?Perhaps Energia, a fictitious country with 50 million inhabitants that embodies the applications proposed by the authors, has the answers. In this book, four families living in Africa, America. Asia and Europe represent us, the consumer, and set the stage for the discussion related to energy consumptions. This book presents observations and proposals based on real data of present emissions and energy consumption and production. On the end-user front, the data focuses on energy consumption at home and for transport. On the energy generation front, the focus shifts to renewable, fossil and nuclear energy. This work's coverage includes crucial systemic issues related to energy storage, electric power systems and multi-energy systems. The authors' convictions regarding key energy and environment public policy issues are described in a dedicated chapter that includes proposals for alternative applications and carbon fee schemes which the authors believe are both necessary and realistically possible.Electricity is written for readers interested in and concerned by the environmental and energy challenges we are facing, and who seek to be prepared to participate, as a citizen, in future energy-related public debates. The book provides a balanced, factual and unemotional presentation of readily available energy systems and technologies which, when broadly deployed, can contribute, both short and long term, toward a low-carbon and electricity-centered world.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
