Reviews
"This is an intelligent, passionate and, at some points, contestable argument that British education policy...must be rectified through the (re)discovery of certain values...Several detailed points excite and invite dispute...The very least this book will do is to conscientise, to raise awareness of the problems....this is a good book which rightly stirs the reader to trenchant and dangerous reflection." --International Journal of Children's Spirituality, 2002
"Those familiar with Professor Mike Bottery's previous works, and who have been drawn to his insightful and timely application of ethical analysis to questions of educational policy and practice, will certainly find his latest book of considerable interest and value...[T]he author seems to be equally and often enviably familiar with contemporary literature and debates in philosophy, psychology, sociology, politics and economics and his work can certainly claim rather wider scope and range than that of educational theorists more narrowly associated with particular disciplines...There is clearly much to be learned by educational professionals from Bottery's rich and stimulating discussion, and this book deserves a wide readership." -Dr. David Carr, University of Edinburgh, Journal of Moral Education * Blurb from reviewer *
