Description

'A celebration of the city and its enduring love affair with music and musicians, venues and shops, one which will spark the remembrance of unique, high-octane experiences for all of us' - Ian Rankin

Discover Edinburgh's hidden music heritage with this eye-opening guide to the city's musical milestones, famous gigs, infamous incidents and colourful characters. From folk to funk, pop to punk, this compilation of bite-sized stories shines a light on the key people, venues and gigs that have shaped the city's music scene. From Bowie to the Bay City Rollers, Edinburgh's Greatest Hits touches on the big names as well as revealing some lesser-known legends and tall tales.

Jim Byers, Fiona Shepherd, Alison Stroak and Jonathan Trew share decades of music fandom and journalism between them and are uniquely placed to explore the capital's music scene, past and present.

About the Author

Jim Byers runs Edinburgh Music Lovers (EML), a platform and occasional promoter of special events for a community of like- minded music fans. He started his career as a music journalist, first in Edinburgh and later in London, before moving into PR and communications. Aside from EML, Jim is director of the Beeline PR agency.

Jonathan Trew has been writing about music, culture and restaurants since the early 1990s. When not leading tour groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow, he can usually be found at his desk wondering when this internet thing will end.

Fiona Shepherd is an established music journalist who has been attending gigs and writing about the music scene since 1990. She is the chief rock and pop critic of The Scotsman, and also writes for Scotland On Sunday, The List and Edinburgh Festivals magazine.

Alison Stroak is a co-director and co-founder of Glasgow Music City Tours and Edinburgh Music Tours. She has been a bookseller, publisher and editor for over 30 years.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
