About the Author
Chantal is a Dutch illustrator and writer of picture books, working from the Wiltshire countryside, where she lives with her partner and two whippets. Chantal's inspiration comes from nature, the countryside and the living creatures in it. In 2011 she graduated with a 1:1 Honours degree in Illustration. Her graduation project was highly commended in the MacMillan Prize. In 2013 she was highly commended in the AOI Awards. Since graduating Chantal has written and illustrated children's picture book apps, published by Tizio. One was awarded a Kirkus Star for books of remarkable merit. She has now illustrated three books in the Horace & Nim series, co-written with partner David Hoskins. David is a television scriptwriter with 30 years experience, mainly writing for The Bill and Midsomer Murders. He has also developed original ideas for broadcasters and TV productions companies, and written articles and short stories for various publications, from Fun to Learn Friends Magazine for children to the Financial Times for grown ups. David has worked with Chantal, developing stories for Horace and Nim since Chantal came up with the initial idea.
Reviews
Beautifully illustrated by Chantal Bourgonje, with a heart-warming story of friendship that children ages 3-5 (and their parents) will enjoy and another storytelling gem for family, daycare center, preschool, elementary school and community library collections - Midwest Book Review --- This charming book provides much to think about such as relationships, friendship, white lies, resilience and expectations. The illustrations are delightful. I loved the queue of animals waiting for tickets. Highly recommended - The English Association --- a valuable lesson for youth. Those between the ages of four and seven will especially enjoy this meaningful text. - City Book Review
