Description

DISCOVER WHAT LIFE UNDERWATER CAN TEACH YOU ABOUT DIVERSITY INCLUSION
Deep beneath the ocean's surface, submarines, hunks of metal shrouded in curiosity by those on land, are filled with a skillful crew responsible for its success. The efficiency of a strong submarine crew is the result of a community that makes acceptance of diversity and inclusion part of its expected norms. The strategies of a submarine crew can be adapted to businesses and communities, allowing them to reach peak efficiency and maintain a mission-focused philosophy that promotes growth.
Deborah Cake Fortin and John Gregory Vincent have teamed together to bring you Diversity and Inclusion the Submarine Way, which provides insight into many techniques and principles that will teach you to: *EFFECTIVELY MANAGE BIASES AND UNITE TOGETHER AS A TEAM TO SOLVE PROBLEMS *EMBRACE WHAT YOU CAN'T CHANGE, AND FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL *DEAL WITH CONFLICT OPENLY AND DIRECTLY
When it comes to a system of inclusion, there's none better than the one that organically takes place on a submarine. This book is the first step toward applying these techniques and practices to help your company succeed and thrive in a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Reviews

"...The Submarine Way toward diversity and inclusion will totally change the way you think about a subject that can be a sensitive and challenging one to tackle.Being a corporate executive, former pastor, and business owner, I've been faced with leading and fostering an inclusive environment and team when the stakes are really high. Their insightful and inspiring approach will be different, yet successful. I encourage you to read it and dive in!" -Darryl Webb, Senior Vice President of OperationsGolden Corral Corporation

"This book is an amazing how to guide to promote inclusiveness in thework place. It can also be used in so many different organizations too, clubs, boards, pretty much anywhere that you have a group of people that need to work together for a common goal." -Rocky Reviewer

"This book by John and Deborah clearing explains and simplifies the Navy's approach to teamwork, diversity, and inclusion. The subtitle -The Submarine Way is a little misleading and narrow. I can say thiswith confidence as I have served in submarines, in aviation, ashore, and afloat. Their approach is scalable up to the hundreds of thousands (as in the Navy overall) and scales down to groups as small as five. Their book is devoid of the typical management/leadership cliches and reallyoffers the reader workable approaches to getting the most from a team -large or small. It's a great read and, more importantly, offers somegenuine guidance on implementation. This is a great companion book to M. David Marquet's book Turn The Ship Around.
I served with Johnwhen he was the Command Master Chief at Naval Technical Training CenterCorry Station. I was the Director of Training (COO). John was theprincipal advisor (on all matters - large and small) to the CommandingOfficer (CEO) responsible for hundreds of staff and thousands ofstudents (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and international). Johnknows people and their motivations like few others. We didn't alwayssee eye to eye but I never doubted his true concern for the Sailors whowould someday run our Navy. His concern for people continues as thisbook will help you better understand your people and help you get themost from them by investing in them. John and Deborah have collaborated on a book that is truly worth reading." -Reiner W. Lambert

"I was surprised and pleased with this book. I never would have thought the applications of life on a submarine could apply to everyday business. I couldn't put it down and read right through it. The great part of it is that it makes you think, it is interactive and asks good questions. I am excited to see how this will work when I apply it to my business and life. Transparency is Key." -Renee

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
