Reviews
I can hardly imagine a better way to combine a great narrative of the political development in the region with empirical evidence supporting each point that the author makes. The book should be the standard textbook for undergraduates and graduate politics interested on democratization and Latin American politics. * Francisco Cantu, University of Houston *
This is a high-quality textbook with no glaring errors or horrible problems. * Melody Ellis Valdini, Portland State University *
This is the second year I have used this book and will continue to use it in the foreseeable future. It is the best analysis of the state of democracy in Latin America. I would indeed recommend it to anyone teaching a course on Latin America with at least some focus on democracy. I would describe it as-the best book on democracy in Latin America. I would also add that it is a very accessible text for undergraduates that is certain to spark conversations in the classroom. * Philip Mauceri, SUNY - New Paltz *
