McCarthy is known for his gestural and intuitive artwork. His brightly colored paintings, with loose brushwork, depict figures in action: dancing, surfing, fishing, and skateboarding often against a rainbow-colored background. His ongoing series of ceramic facepots delight with their hand-built immediacy and invested emotionality. McCarthy who worked on fishing boats near Catalina Island and cites the Pacific Ocean as a lasting influence on his work.

The beautifully curated book includes an 8-page gatefold and a French-fold jacket, which opens up to a collectible foldout poster.

About the Author
Dan McCarthy was born in Honolulu, Hawaii; grew up in Huntington Beach, California; and lives and works in Brooklyn and upstate New York. His work is in the collection of MoMA New York, MAM Paris, ICA Miami, and DESTE Foundation. His previously published monographs include Dan McCarthy in 2007, Facepots in 2015, and Skateboarders in 2018. Writer Robert Sullivan is the author of Rats, The Meadowlands, A Whale Hunt, and My American Revolution. His writing has appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Times, A Public Space, and Vogue. He is the recipient of a 2022 Guggenheim Fellowship.

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.

Found a hard to get book…
