Hallman received the University's Distinguished Professor Award several years ago; however, in addition to her interest in teaching excellence, her interests in service have led to state and national professional leadership roles and to much local community service. A recent service opportunity was chairing the City Commission for Women and Families. Hallman's research has centered on teaching effectiveness.
