Description

Winner of a Scotsman Fringe First Award 2014

If you pinned me against a wall and put a gun to my head, I'd probably admit to being a liberal. Actually if you pinned me against a wall and put a gun to my head,I'd probably admit to being whatever you wanted me to be. And of course, putting a gun to my head is exactly what I'd expect from someone likeyou.

Confirmation is a show about the gulf between beliefs that we can't talk across.About our knee-jerk dismissal of the opposing viewpoint. About the echo chamberof agreement and validation we live in. About the way we choose only to see theevidence that proves we're right.

A new solo show from a multi Fringe First winning team: written and performed by Chris Thorpe (Unlimited Theatre, Third Angel), developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin (The TEAM).

A new solo show from award-winning writer/performer Chris Thorpe.

About the Author

Chris Thorpe was a founding member of Unlimited Theatre and still works and tours with the company. He is also an Artistic Associate of live art/theatre company Third Angel as well as working closely with, among others, Forest Fringe, Slung Low, Chris Goode, RashDash, Belarus Free Theatre and Portuguese company mala voadora for whom he has just completed a trilogy of new plays. He has an ongoing collaboration with poet Hannah Jane Walker, having written two shows, The Oh Fuck Moment and I Wish I Was Lonely. As a playwright Chris has written radio and stage drama, as well as translating the work of Ugljesa Sajtinac (the play Huddersfield is also published by Oberon), Belarus Free Theatre, and Ze Maria Mendes.

Reviews
Thorpe and director Rachel Chavkin energetically take a liberal Fringe audience to the edge of the abyss of belief and hang them over the side in a conversation for our times * Independent *
Amid so much theatre that simply confirms its audience's liberal sympathies, Confirmation is that rare and valuable thing: a piece that makes you alert to your own selective use of evidence - Thorpe challenges himself and us to be aware of our own bias and retain our passion and certainty * Four stars - Lyn Gardner, Guardian *
This] show is a sly, slippery thing, tickling at the mind for long after - The real brilliance lies in the show's delicate plaiting of concept and form, theatrically grappling with its ideas at every level. * Four stars - What's on Stage *
Thorpe has created a fiercely intelligent and relentlessly curious piece that strives for he truth, even as it acts as a warning to the easily led. * Herald Scotland *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
