Reviews
"The editors and authors of this book address one of the greatest challenges in psychiatry: available pharmacotherapy has little impact on the functional disability that is characteristic of people with psychotic disorders. Here, the leading experts in the field show that cognitive remediation is an approach, available today, which may enhance the recovery of people challenged by psychotic disorders. Clinicians, students, researchers, and policy makers interested in the care for people with psychosis should all be familiar with this work." --James M. Gold, PhD, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of Maryland School of Medicine "Written by noted experts in cognitive and social cognitive remediation, this book addresses a key, and often neglected, need in psychiatric rehabilitation. Decades of work have been devoted to developing ways to improve cognitive performance for individuals who have severe mental illness. The impetus for these interventions is a desire to improve the lives of patients, yet we know rather little about how to make this happen. Cognitive Remediation to Improve Functional Outcomes focuses on the critical step of moving beyond improving cognition to improving daily life." --Michael F. Green, PhD. Professor-in-Residence, Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA
