Description

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders in Young People is a state-of-the-art guide for parents based on enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT-E), one of the most effective treatments for eating disorders and recently adapted for adolescents.

Part I presents the most current facts on eating disorders. Part II provides parents with guidance on how to support their child's recovery.

The book will be of interest to parents of teenagers with eating disorders treated with CBT-E and also for clinicians using CBT-E with young patients.

About the Author

Riccardo Dalle Grave, MD, is Director of the Department of Eating and Weight Disorders at Villa Garda Hospital, Verona (Italy), where he has developed the CBT-E for adolescents with eating disorders recommended by many international guidelines.

Carine el Khazen, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist. She has set up and is Director of the Weight and Eating Disorders program at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology in Dubai, UAE. She is a CBT-E therapist, supervisor, and trainer.

Reviews

'This book will be invaluable to the parents of children with an eating disorder. Written by two expert clinicians, it provides a succinct account of eating disorders and their treatment. This is followed by detailed guidance on how to provide the optimal home environment while their child receives "CBT-E", the leading evidence-based treatment for all eating disorders.'
Christopher G. Fairburn, DM, FMedSci, FRCPsych, Emeritus professor of psychiatry, University of Oxford, UK

'Parents are an integral part of treatment when their child is struggling with an eating disorder. While Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) is an individual psychotherapeutic approach, Drs. Dalle Grave and el Khazen skillfully incorporate parental support in this treatment endeavor. With their parent guide to CBT-E, these authors provide parents with knowledge and tools which should enable the adult caregivers of the young person to support their offspring in their struggles. This parent guide is extraordinarily well written and will, without a doubt, be a terrific resource to parents and clinicians who are joining the young person in their quest to overcome their eating disorder.'
Daniel Le Grange, Ph.D., Benioff UCSF Professor in Children's Health, Director of the Eating Disorders Program, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences, University of California, San Francisco, CA, and Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, The University of Chicago, Chicago IL, USA

'Isolation is one of the core maintaining features of an eating disorders. Friends and family can play an important role in moderating this obstacle to recovery. However anorexia nervosa is a confusing illness. Both sufferer and close others find it difficult to understand. This book is an update on some of the latest information about the illness and describes one of the models used to understand and move towards recovery.'
Janet Treasure, OBE, Ph.D., FRCP, FRCPsych, Director of the Eating Disorder Unit and Professor of Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, London, UK

'The well-known researchers and clinicians in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy for Eating Disorders have succeeded in producing a highly informative book for caregivers of young patients with eating disorders. It is also a book for professionals who need an easy and well understandable access to the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of these often debilitating disorders. A major strength is the wide bandwidth of information. It will surely support parents and medical staff to help their child or patient out of his or her eating disorder.'
Beate Herpertz-Dahlmann, Professor Dr. med., Director and Chair, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy, RWTH Aachen University, Germany

'This is the perfect guide book for parents whose child is engaged in enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT-E) for an eating disorder. The scientific rigor of these two experienced authors makes the book a valuable addition to a clinician's library as well.'
Marcia Herrin, EdD, MPH, RDN, LD, Fellow, Academy of Eating Disorders, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, USA

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
