Description

Cases of Conflict focuses on times of dispute as important moments in the development of international environmental law. Conflict tests international law-both its content and its relevance become clearer in times of controversy-but conflict can also help shape the law.

Drawing from a growing body of scholarship connecting the fields of international relations and international law, Cases of Conflict examines six prominent case studies to demonstrate how transboundary disputes have influenced the development of international environmental law and policy. Embracing their rich detail and real-world messiness, this book looks to develop a better understanding of the true content and potential of international environmental law.

The focus on recent environmental disputes, and in particular on the role (in broader context) of legal principles and legal dispute-resolution proceedings, provides a novel perspective. The writing and clarity of argumentation are strong, combining the smooth polish of high-quality journalism with a well-articulated, substantive line of argument. -- Edward A. Parson, University of California, Los Angeles The case studies are complete and well researched, but are also very accessible to the first-time reader-a rare combination. This is an excellent book for both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for anyone who wants to understand the issues involved in the evolution of transboundary environmental dispute settlement as the core of international environmental law. -- John Martin Gillroy, Lehigh University

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
